Srinagar, Apr 05 (KNO): The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended appointment of Justice Arun Palli, judge, High Court of Punjab & Haryana, as Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. In its meeting held on 4th April, 2025, the Collegium, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has recommended appointment of Justice Arun Palli, judge, High Court of Punjab & Haryana, as Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The move comes ahead of the attainment of superannuation by incumbent Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Justice Tashi Rabistan would attain superannuation on April 09, 2025. Justice Arun Palli, born on September 18, 1964, hails from a distinguished family of legal professionals. After completing his Bachelor of Laws from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1988, he commenced his legal practice at the High Court of Punjab and Haryana. He was appointed Additional Advocate General for Punjab on September 1, 2004, a position he held until March 2007. His was designated as a Senior Advocate on April 26, 2007. He served as Amicus Curiae in various contentious matters before the High Court. He dealt with diverse subjects and matters having important legal propositions before Division and Full Benches. He also appeared before the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, and also argued several important matters in the High Court of Himachal Pradesh. He was elevated to the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 28, 2013. He has also been serving as executive chairman of Haryana State Legal Service Authority since 31.5.2023. He was nominated as a member of the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on October 31, 2023, for a tenure of two years—(KNO)
